Dark
Heir to the throne of the red phoenix, Dark is a young boy (probably age 14/15) destined to become one of the strongest Phantom Saints. His skills with the sword are exceptional. But apart from this, Dark is actually a clumsy boy who gets lost a LOT. He has a big heart and would rather die then to hurt innocent people. This is also the reason why he'd been chosen as Sou's successor.
Dark has two personalities; the first one is the cute and rather naive boy, and the other... is Dark Angel. This personality is very evil and likes to rip off his opponents' bodyparts *COUGH*. No one knows why and when he appears though.
Kyo
The spirit helper of Dark, Kyo belongs to the winged kind of fairies. She is assigned to the task to watch over the Phantom Saint and to guide him, until either he or she dies. Kyo has a warm personality and does everything to help Dark acchieve his goal--to become the next Phantom Saint.
Her opponent is Bee, spirit helper of the Phantom Saint of the white tiger. They used to be friends once, but something broke up their friendship and made them into enemies.
Sou
Sou was one of the most trusted and strongest Phantom Saints until he died by Dark's hand. This however, was planned by himself. Due to an illness (which was unknown to everyone) he wasn't able to stay on his post any longer. Sou took Dark in when he was little and raised him as his son.
Ryo
One of Dark's helpers. Ryo's guardian beast is the eagle and he names all his attacks after it. His weapon is a longsword, named the 'Giant Eagle Talon'. His secret trick is the Ice Talon Flash Slash.
Note: in the book his sword is referred to as 'Giant Falcon Talon'. I think this is a mistake of the translator since Ryo's guardian beast is an eagle, and the falcon Kou's. That's why I changed it.
Kou
Also called 'Hayato Kou' or 'Kou the Falcon'. With his sleek eyes and slim body, he looks like those typical thieves that often appear in manga. ^_^
Kou is an expert at throwing daggers. The daggers he uses are a combination between a knife and a wire. He doesn't acknowledge Dark as the new Phantom Saint, but when the boy gets himself in danger he shows a more caring side.
Kin
An old man who earns his living by making swords. Shou's double-bladed sword was also created by him. Kin is a very peaceful man who believes that an undrawn sword is a sign of peace, and that they are made to protect the innocent.
