I don't know much about the world of Dark Angel, but this is what I DO know.

There are four countries, called the lands of the four winds. In the middle of them lies the central state of Oukoku--its capital is also the home of the king, Rai Han, who united these four lands.
Each land has its own animal god, and with that a Phantom Saint (gensei); a person who represents the god. Each phantom saint has his or her spirit (hoosei) to guide him/her until the end of his/her life.

• Hokuteki, land of the north wind and ruled by En Rakan, with his spirit helper Setsuka
  
• Nanban, land of the south wind and ruled by Dark Yokuo, with his spirit helper Kyo
  
• Seijyu, land of the west wind and ruled by Shou Gaju, with his spirit helper Bee
  
• and Toi, land of the east wind and ruled by Leen Kasui, with her spirit helper Shiki.
  

Hokuteki

Hokuteki is one big desert with ruins. A giant (holy?) turtle wanders in it, and on its back is some kind of ancient arena.

Nanban

A typical country of some fantasy story. ^_^ It has about everything, normal wasteland, forests, deserts, mountains, tall waterfalls... and is famous because of its floating rocks.

Seijyu

Almost similar to Nanban. The only things I haven't spotted are the deserts and floating rocks. Oh yeah, Seijyu also has hot springs.

Toi

The most beautiful country of all with fertile soil and a variety of nature's treasures. Poetic, ne?
