In every elemental class the two top students are appointed as 'leaders'. Among them are the most skilled or powerful students of The Academy. Their job consists of being an example to their colleagues and representing their element during contests. They're also often tested through extra exams or dangerous expeditions.

Even though there are 36 students in total, the story takes place around the 12 most important ones--because they're the most interesting of all! :)
